Tulum Located on the Caribbean coast in the state of Quintana Roo, Tulum is the site of an ancient Maya walled city which served as a port for the city of Coba as well as for Maya people on their pilgramage to the island of the goddess, Ixchel (which is now known as Cozumel). The ruins are Mexico's most visited, perhaps because they sit on 12 meter high cliffs overlooking the Caribbean. Before 1970 there were no roads into the jungles of Quintana Roo, which is why this magical world is still relatively unknown.
